| In freshwater aquaculture, pond aeration is vital to ensure the health and growth of the species under culture is at the maximum level that can be achieved. |

||||||
|
When fish are
exposed to optimum levels of oxygen, the following benefits can be seen,
increased food conversion ratio, decreased stress, decreased disease,
decreased mortality rates and increased stocking rates.
Additionally,
a lack of oxygen in the pond will allow the build-up of fish waste and
other organic material in the pond. As this material decays, it leads to
the build-up of toxic gases which are harmful to fish. Based on your specific aeration or requirements, BioRemedy can supply increased dissolved oxygen, not only by introducing air to the water body, but pure oxygen when required. The introduction of aerators to your ponds also provides increased circulation which in turn removes the effects that stratification of the water body can have on your fish. |

||||||
| If the water body is not well mixed, large volumes of oxygen depleted water may accumulate near the pond bottom due to thermal stratification. | |||||||
| Stratification occurs when warmer, less dense water remains near the pond's surface. Sunlight penetrates the water body and photosynthetic activity from phytoplankton (microscopic algae) combine to release oxygen to the water. |

||||||
| Waters which may receive little sunlight due to algal density or turbidity may become cooler and deficient in dissolved oxygen. Cool water is denser than warm water and will remain near the pond bottom. Without adequate water circulation, much of the bottom habitat available to the fish you are culturing could be eliminated due to the absence of dissolved oxygen. |

||||||
| In most freshwater aquaculture situations, levels of circulation provided by our aerators are sufficient to remove stratification with in the water body. | |||||||
| However if the pond is of a particularly large size we stock a range of high quality Italian made water circulators which have been designed with this in mind. | |||||||
| These larger water circulators can be used as an individual unit or in conjunction with an aerator which is specifically designed to be attached to the frame of the water circulator. | |||||||
|
The philosophy of BioRemedy centres on the provision
of favorable environments for enhanced and advantageous biological
processes tailored to your culture environment.
