To All Members“Following receipt of submissions to the Regulatory Impact Statement (RIS) released earlier this year, Safe Food Production Queensland (SFPQ) is proceeding with the development of a Seafood Food Safety Scheme for Queensland. The major objective to be addressed in the development of the Scheme is the implementation of the National Seafood Primary Production and Processing Standard 4.2.1 in Queensland law.
In order to progress the development of the Seafood Scheme, SFPQ proposes to engage in further consultation with associations representing various sectors of the industry. This is being done as an interactive process whereby SFPQ can provide feedback in relation to the issues raised in response to the RIS and at associated public meetings, as well as discussions with the industry associations regarding proposed measures to address these issues.” To this end AAQ in conjunction with SFPQ will be holding a workshop to cover the above issues.
This workshop will be held at the RSL Club Churchill Street Childers, commencing at 10AM on Saturday 23rd February 2008. This will be a 2 hour meeting. After lunch there will be a Training Workshop for the AAQ Hatchery Code of Practice. Mr Robert Swindlehurst BSc. of Catalyst Environment & Education Services P/L will conduct this workshop.
Mr. Swindlehurst has been engaged by AAQ on behalf of members, as a consultant and independent auditor for the hatchery code of practice. Members need to attend to be shown how to achieve hatchery accreditation. This will be a “nuts and bolts” workshop. Following the Workshop dates will be arranged for individual Audits. Funding for the implementation of this Hatchery Code has been provided by DPI&F through the Life Style Policy. Thanks going to our President Mr. Bruce Sambell who works tirelessly for our members to secure these advantages.
Please contact the AAQ secretary if you would like to attend.
To attend you must be a member of AAQ. PLEASE NOTE: Travel and accommodation subsidies may be available for hatcheries that have signed up to the code of practice. For information about subsidies contact the AAQ secretary.
